Ensuring safety when operating flood reduction for the downstream of Ban Ve Lake
The Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense has issued Official Dispatch No. 171/VP-PCTT on ensuring safety when operating flood reduction for the downstream of Ban Ve Lake.
Official dispatch sent to: Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue of Ha Tinh province; People's Committees of districts: Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc and Vinh city; Heads of provincial departments, branches and sectors; Directors of Irrigation LLCs; North Central Region Hydrometeorological Station; Provincial Radio and Television Station, Nghe An Newspaper.

Previously, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention - Search and Rescue and Civil Defense of Nghe An province issued a document on the Order to operate Ban Ve hydropower reservoir to reduce floods downstream (in Document No. 170/BCH-PCTT dated September 5, 2024).
To proactively respond and limit damage during flood reduction operations for downstream areas, the Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control and Disaster Prevention and Control requests: People's Committees of the districts: Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Anh Son, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong, Nam Dan, Hung Nguyen, Nghi Loc and Vinh city; Heads of provincial Departments, Boards, Branches, Directors of Irrigation LLCs and related units:
Notify authorities at all levels, people, organizations operating on rivers and riverbanks; aquaculture facilities on rivers, water transport vehicles; ferry terminals; production and business activities, sand and gravel exploitation activities to know information about water discharge from hydroelectric reservoirs to proactively take preventive measures to ensure safety of people and property.

Review flood prevention plans to ensure safety downstream, especially the dike system and residential areas on river banks to be ready to respond.
Direct information and communication agencies to increase the time and frequency of reporting on the media, especially the radio system in wards, communes and towns about the release of water from reservoirs; at the same time, coordinate with specialized agencies to guide flood prevention skills for people and relevant agencies and units to deploy response and minimize damage caused by the release of water from reservoirs.

Provincial Radio and Television Station, Nghe An Newspaper and other news agencies and newspapers increase broadcasting time to report on the operation of Ban Ve Hydropower Reservoir, flood reduction for downstream areas, and the management work of the Command Board.
