People are upset because they continuously discover dead pigs being illegally dumped.
(Baonghean.vn) - Within just 4 days, in Quynh Van commune, 6 dead pigs were discovered that were illegally dumped. The strong stench from the pig carcasses stagnating in the sewer made the people extremely upset.
3 dead pigs (weighing about 70kg each) were discovered on March 29 at the underground sewer on the N17 canal through village 9. At the scene, the pig carcasses were tied with ropes to keep their legs together, in the process of decomposition, swollen and emitting a strong stench.

Ms. Dau Thi Thuy, resident of Hamlet 9, was upset: In recent days, we have continuously discovered dead pigs being illegally dumped. The stench and the sight of the decomposing pig carcasses have made us wear masks day and night, but we still can’t eat or sleep.
Mr. Dau Duc Thai, head of hamlet 9, expressed concern about the risk of water pollution because canal N17 provides irrigation water for 30 hectares of cultivated land and the daily needs of hundreds of households in hamlets 9 and 10. Furthermore, if pigs that die from disease are not treated, there is a potential risk of spreading disease to livestock households.
Mr. Nguyen The Lai, Vice Chairman of Quynh Van Commune People's Committee confirmed: On March 26, the commune authorities received a report from local people about 3 dead pigs dumped on Ngan slope. The commune sent veterinary staff to inspect, treat with chemicals and bury them.
On March 29, three more dead pigs were found illegally dumped. The area where the pigs were found is in the canal basin managed by the Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise. The commune has requested the unit to coordinate and handle the situation quickly so that people can live in peace.
According to the latest information, on March 30, Quynh Luu Irrigation Enterprise officers pulled a pig carcass ashore. The handling process encountered many difficulties because the pig carcass was decomposing rapidly.
According to point d, item 2 stipulated in Article 7Decree 167/2013/ND-CPFines from 1,000,000 VND to 2,000,000 VND for the act of dumping garbage, waste, animal carcasses or any other objects that cause pollution in public places or places with water taps, drinking water wells, ponds, lagoons, lakes that people use daily for daily activities, causing unsanitary conditions. |
