People suffer because of muddy roads

(Baonghean.vn) - After the rains, the road through Quynh Lam commune (Quynh Luu) is muddy again, making it very difficult for people, especially students, to travel.

During 3 consecutive days of heavy rain (from October 3 to 5), the road through Quynh Lam commune was flooded and muddy; especially the section in front of the gate of the commune People's Committee headquarters and the secondary school. Every time vehicles passed through here, they stalled due to mud; many students even fell on their way to school due to slipping.

Mr. Ho Ba Huong - a resident of Hamlet 1 said that this road has been degraded for many years now, and during the rainy season it is muddy, making it very difficult for people to travel. Especially since the commune dumped soil on the damaged sections, the road became muddy, making it even more difficult for people to travel. We request the commune to take measures to overcome this situation to ensure convenience for people to travel.

According to research, the road from Quynh Lam connecting with mountainous communes of Quynh Luu such as Ngoc Son, Quynh Chau and Dien Lam commune (Dien Chau district) was built in 1997. After 20 years of use, the road has seriously degraded.

Talking with Mr. Nguyen Ba Tinh - Chairman of Quynh Lam Commune People's Committee, it is known that currently the road passing through the commune is 4 km long and is part of the project to build a road connecting the mountainous communes of Quynh Luu, invested by the District People's Committee. While waiting for the project to be constructed in the area, each year the locality allocates budget to hire trucks to transport rocks to repair damaged roads in the locality. According to people's feedback on muddy roads causing difficulties for vehicles participating in traffic, the locality has grasped the situation.

On the morning of October 5, the locality directed the commune police to urgently mobilize people and excavators to go to muddy roads to fix them, and at the same time carry more sand and gravel to fill in the damaged sections so that people and students can travel easily.

“The local government also requested the District People’s Committee to urge the construction unit to speed up the project progress through the area; currently, the site clearance work has been completed by the commune. Thereby, creating favorable travel conditions for the people,” Mr. Tinh added.
