(Baonghean.vn) - As part of the preparation for the groundbreaking ceremony of the Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site in Nghe An, on the morning of August 2, the Nghe An Monuments and Landscapes Management Board coordinated with the Association of Former Students of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted to offer incense and pay tribute at the Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site in Hue City.

Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site is where Phan lived from 1926 to 1940, the period when he was imprisoned by the French colonialists and their henchmen. With a loyal and patriotic heart, here Sao Nam - (another name of Phan Boi Chau) continued to call for the national liberation movement among all classes of people. After Phan Boi Chau passed away (October 29, 1940), in 1941, Huynh Thuc Khang stood up to build a mausoleum and a memorial church for Phan.

With deep admiration and gratitude for the patriot and revolutionary Phan Boi Chau, the delegation from Nghe An offered incense to commemorate the outstanding son of Nghe An. At the same time, they informed the spirit of Phan that Nghe An province will start building a memorial house for him in his hometown Nam Dan. The project was built with contributions from former students of Phan Boi Chau school and support from the Provincial People's Committee. The memorial house is expected to officially start construction on August 11, 2015.

The statue was cast by Architect Le Thanh Nhon in 1974 with contributions from students and intellectuals across the country at that time. The statue is about 4.5m high, weighs more than 6 tons and is cast in bronze. Before 2012, the statue was located at the Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site (No. 119 - Phan Boi Chau Street). |

The delegation also visited the cemetery named after Phan Boi Chau, located on Quang Te hill - Thuy Xuan commune (Hue city). The cemetery was established by Phan for patriots with national spirit to rest in peace. |
