List of Vietnam team for Asian Cup: Farewell to Van Quyet, Anh Duc, Dinh Trong
In addition to Dinh Trong's injury, coach Park Hang Seo has decided not to use two veterans Van Quyet and Anh Duc for the 2019 Asian Cup finals campaign.
This is a surprising but reasonable decision, as both Van Quyet and Anh Duc are old. It is known that, even before the AFF Cup 2018 took place, Coach Park Hang Seo had planned to use Van Quyet and Anh Duc only for the regional tournament, because these two players were old, and they had almost no time to rest after the end of V-League 2018.
After contributing to the Vietnamese team at the AFF Cup 2018, Anh Duc and Van Quyet were given a break by coach Park Hang Seo. |
More importantly, for the main goals in 2019 such as the Asian Cup Finals, the 2020 U23 Asian qualifiers or the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines, Coach Park wants to prioritize the use of young players. This plan of the Korean coach has received the support of the VFF.
Leaving out some familiar faces, in the list of Vietnam team gathered for the 2019 Asian Cup finals, coach Park Hang Seo decided to call up 7 more players, prioritizing young players to prepare for the long-term qualifying round of the U23 Asian Cup and the 2019 SEA Games.
Among the additional faces called up, in addition to the return of midfielder Minh Vuong of HAGL, Coach Park surprised by giving the opportunity to the national team to 4 players who are playing in the international U21 tournament in Hue: striker Dinh Thanh Binh, midfielder Phan Thanh Hau, defender Nguyen Thanh Chung and Ngo Tung Quoc. At the same time, Ngan Van Dai (Hanoi) and midfielder who participated in the U20 World Cup 2017 Nguyen Hoang Duc (Viettel) were also added.
