Math exam has high differentiation, candidates find it difficult to get a score of 8 or higher
(Baonghean.vn) - With the multiple choice test format, it was not until 4 p.m. this afternoon, when the bell rang to end the time, that the candidates walked out of the Math exam room. Unlike the Literature exam, many candidates said that it was not easy to get high scores in the Math exam.
Although the exam site gathers the most capable candidates in Nghe An province, at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, many candidates are still not satisfied with their results.

Candidate Nguyen Ba Thang is a student majoring in Russian. However, this candidate chose Math as the university entrance exam subject because he is planning to take the entrance exam to the University of Architecture.

After completing the math test, Thang said that he was not really satisfied: The test had 50 questions, of which the first few were common and easy for him to answer. However, from question 35 onwards, the questions became increasingly difficult and fell into the application and advanced application sections. With this test, he thought he was only sure of about 40 or more questions. Meanwhile, he randomly circled many of the last questions, hoping for luck.

Regarding this test, candidate Nguyen Quynh Trang also said: 7 points or less is easy. But 7 points or more is not easy, especially with application and high-level application questions. The questions are spread throughout the 12th grade program such as complex numbers, exponential equations, logarithms...
Therefore, to do well on the test, students must have a solid grasp of the program. I did not choose Math as a university entrance exam subject, so I hope I will get 7 points. Before that, this candidate had applied and been admitted to VinUni, so there was not too much pressure on him.high school graduation exam.

Sharing about this year's Math exam, candidate Le Van Thanh, at the Co Do High School exam site (Nghia Dan) commented: "The Math exam was relatively suitable, with high differentiation. With this exam, those who have mastered the knowledge they have learned can easily achieve maximum score, while those with average learning ability can also do about 50% of the exam. The first 25 questions are relatively easy for candidates to "securely" get 5 points. The next 25 questions are used to classify the candidates' academic ability, so there are many tricky questions that take a lot of effort to do the test."

Candidate Pham Thi Ha Trang - 1/5 High School said that the Math exam was not a puzzle, it was just a regular math problem and similar to the sample exam given by the Ministry. If candidates carefully reviewed the content in the 12th grade program, they could do 37 - 40 questions. "I studied Math at a fairly good level, so I had difficulty with the last questions. Many of the questions required me to apply many formulas and solve many steps to find the correct answer, so it took a lot of time." This candidate also hoped to get 8 points.
At the exam site of Quy Hop High School, many candidates said that the Math test was difficult and if they did not major in Math, it would be difficult to get a high score.

Candidate Bui The Tung, class 12A3, commented: "The exam is clearly differentiated, the first 35 questions are for graduation purposes and the next 15 questions are for differentiation. My exam code is 103, I got about 7-8 points."

As for candidate Nguyen Dang Tung, he was quite worried because he could only get 50% of the questions correct: "I did test code 107 and I found it quite difficult for students taking the C block exam like us. I could only get about 20 questions correct."
In Do Luong district, many candidates shared the same opinion that the test was designed to differentiate students with good academic performance.

Hoang Dang Nghia, a student in class 12T4, Do Luong 1 High School, said: "I find the last questions of the exam, such as integration, functions, geometry, and sets, very difficult."
According to a general survey, most of the candidates in Do Luong district completed approximately 2/3 of the exam. They happily left in the cool weather, because it rained in the middle of the exam.

In Con Cuong district, Lo Thi Bich Ngoc - a student at Con Cuong High School, assessed that this year's Math exam had high differentiation. The exam had difficult questions to classify excellent students to get 9 and 10 points. Specifically, questions 1 to 40 are suitable for all students, average students can also do it. Only students with good academic performance or higher can do questions from 40.
However, the exam questions are mainly based on the reviewed curriculum. If reviewed carefully, average students can do well in 60% of the exam. As for Ngoc, she majors in social sciences, so she estimates that she can score about 5-6 points in Math.
Regarding the Math exam, teacher Nguyen Huu Thanh - Teacher at Bac Yen Thanh High School commented: This year's Math exam was good, meeting the requirements for both graduation and university admission. Regarding the exam structure, the knowledge areas are all in the curriculum and are reviewed by schools for students.
After studying some Math codes, Mr. Thanh said that from question 1 to question 30 at the level of recognition and understanding, there is nothing surprising or different in terms of knowledge as well as the way of asking questions. With these questions, students can quickly answer using a calculator, or apply Math formulas to solve the results.
But from question 30 onwards, the test has application, in which, even for questions with moderate application, candidates must clearly understand the nature of Mathematics to be able to do it, for example question number 32 of test code 120 or question 40 of test code 123.
According to teacher Nguyen Huu Thanh, the number of high-level application questions in the Math test is about the last 10 questions. These questions, in terms of Math, are the same as every year's test, but require candidates to be more flexible in applying knowledge. If they only apply mechanical formulas, it will be difficult to handle. Instead, candidates must put pen to paper to solve and think to do the test. Trying to solve some questions in the high-level application section, teacher Nguyen Huu Thanh said that the solutions are concise, not complicated or lengthy, but require creative thinking, logic, and a deep understanding of the nature of Mathematics to see the solution method.
With this test, good and excellent students will be able to easily reveal and differentiate. Specifically, with high application questions, good students can still do it, but if they have good and excellent abilities, they will think of a way to solve it faster. Good students will take more time and the number of questions they can answer will also be fewer. Commenting on the test scores, Mr. Thanh predicted that the score range from 5 to 7 students can easily handle if they grasp the basic knowledge and review seriously before. This score also meets the requirements for graduation consideration of candidates. However, to achieve an excellent score will be more difficult and certainly there will not be many 10 points in Math.

According to the report of the Examination Council of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training: In the Math exam, Nghe An had 36,612 candidates registered to take the exam, the number of candidates absent without reason was 62. No candidates violated the exam regulations. No unusual incidents occurred. The exam took place normally, safely, and in accordance with regulations.
