(Baonghean.vn) - The Temple of King Mai Hac De is the only place in the country to worship and commemorate Mai Hac De - the second emperor (after Ly Nam De) in the thousand-year history of Northern domination who dared to call himself "emperor" - equal to the kings in the North.

Previously, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam signed Decision No. 1649/QD-TTg dated December 29, 2022 on ranking 5 relics as Special National Monuments (phase 13).
Specifically, the 5 relics ranked as Special National Monuments this time include: Roc Tung-Go Da archaeological relic (An Khe town, Gia Lai province); Sa Huynh Culture archaeological relic (Duc Pho town, Quang Ngai province); Huong Canh Communal House Cluster architectural and artistic relic (Binh Xuyen district, Vinh Phuc province); Mai Hac De King Temple historical relic (Nam Dan district, Nghe An province); Ap Bac Victory Site historical relic (Cai Lay town, Tien Giang province).

Mai Hac De's real name is Mai Thuc Loan, born and raised in Ngoc Trung village, Dong Liet commune, now Nam Thai commune. In 713, Mai Thuc Loan led the Hoan Chau uprising to overthrow the Tang Dynasty's domination and established the Van An state (713 - 722).
He was the first person in Vietnamese history to have the idea and successfully implement the policy of alliance with neighboring countries in the fight against invasion, protecting the country's sovereignty, creating a great turning point in the thousand-year history of Chinese domination.
By the end of 2022, Nghe An province has 476 ranked relics, including 6 special national relics, including: Kim Lien Relic Site, Phan Boi Chau Memorial Site, Hoanh Son Communal House, Nguyen Xi Temple, Km 0 and King Mai Hac De Temple.
Besides, the whole province has 144 national relics and 326 provincial relics.
