Dien Chau completed irrigation works exceeding 200% of target

(Baonghean.vn) - After 1 month of launching the second phase of additional irrigation work, Dien Chau district (Nghe An) has completed all 38 communes with a volume exceeding the set target.

The irrigation movement was actively responded to by local people in Dien Chau district.

According to the plan this time, the whole district will mobilize nearly 51,000 working days for irrigation work, but nearly 98,000 people participated. Thereby, nearly 85,000m3 of mud and soil were dredged from irrigation canals and drainage canals in the fields; canals and banks were built and repaired with more than 61,000m2; clearing, cutting grass, and collecting duckweed over more than 389,000m2. All the workloads exceeded the plan by nearly 200% with a total cost of more than 16 billion VND.

To achieve the set volume, Dien Chau established a steering committee for the second peak period of the irrigation campaign, assigned cadres to closely follow the grassroots, guide, inspect, and urge localities to complete assigned targets, mobilized dozens of excavators to salvage deep canals... Thanks to that, the movement to launch this irrigation campaign in Dien Chau took place vigorously, receiving enthusiastic response from the people.

Along with the irrigation campaign, people have exterminated more than 100,000 rats in the fields, creating favorable conditions for the safe and smooth production of more than 13,000 hectares of spring crops.
