Do Luong grows winter squash and pumpkin with income of over 100 million VND/ha

(Baonghean.vn) - This winter crop, Do Luong district planted 700 hectares of squash and vegetables.beanvarious types and 1,600 hectares of corn. Currently, people have finished harvesting the squash area, earning over 100 million VND/hectare.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha in hamlet 5, Dang Son commune (Do Luong) said: Her family planted 200 m2During the care process, she picks the tops and flowers every day to sell at the market for 5,000 - 7,000 VND/bunch. On the day of harvest, the fruit is about 120 kg, sold for 4,000 VND/kg. Thus, Mrs. Ha's family's gourd garden this winter crop earned about 900,000 VND, double that of spring rice cultivation.

Currently, Mrs. Ha's family is harvesting the green beans. At the beginning of the season, the selling price was 25,000 - 30,000 VND/kg, now it has decreased to 20,000 VND/kg.

In Nam Son commune, farmers have also finished harvesting the squash area, and are currently harvesting green beans and taking care of various vegetables and corn. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thinh in hamlet 5a said: Like previous years, her family grows many things: squash, green beans, various vegetables, so she is always busy in the fields. However, this year the price of vegetables and beans has increased, so the harvest is quite high.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung - an officer in charge of agriculture in Nam Son commune said: This winter crop, the locality planted 81 hectares of corn, 25 hectares of squash, pumpkin, and various vegetables and beans. By early December, farmers had basically finished harvesting the squash and pumpkin areas.

Calculations show that 1 hectare of green squash yields about 100 million VND/ha. For squash, it is estimated at about 120 million VND/ha.

Mr. Tran Doan Hung - Head of the District's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development said: This winter crop, Do Luong district has planted 700 hectares of squash, pumpkin, various vegetables and beans and 1,600 hectares of corn. Up to this point, farmers have finished harvesting squash and pumpkin and are harvesting green beans. This year, due to unfavorable weather, the selling price of vegetables and beans has increased compared to last year.

The area of ​​squash and pumpkin alone is over 100 hectares planted on land with two rice crops, earning over 100 million VND/ha, especially squash, which has a harvest of 120 million VND/ha, double that of spring rice production. Currently, farmers are actively taking care of all kinds of vegetables, serving the vegetable market during Tet./.
