According to the Thai people in Tien Ky, "Buon Xao" means Tet on August 20. This Tet originates from the tradition of drinking water and remembering its source, the belief in worshipping the Mother Goddess and the history of the local struggle to defend the country. During the Buon Xao Tet, there is an indispensable dish called mooc. On this occasion, every family competes to wrap and cook mooc to prepare for Tet. |

Banh mooc, made from dong leaves, sticky rice, meat, wild vegetables... is a long-standing traditional dish of the Thai people. According to legend, banh mooc was also an item that local people used to treat Le Loi's army in the resistance war against the Ming army in the 15th century. According to history, Le Loi's army stopped at Pu Pan for about 2 months to recruit and train soldiers. |
