Welcoming the remains of 98 martyrs who died in Laos back to their homeland

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of May 12, in Muong Xen town, the Party Committee, government, people and armed forces of Ky Son district held a ceremony to welcome back the remains of 98 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who heroically fought and sacrificed in the provinces of Vientiane, Xay Xom Bun and Xieng Khouang (Lao PDR).

Attending the ceremony, on the Lao side, there was comrade Xytha Duong - Ma - La, Director of the Policy Department, Deputy Head of the Lao Government's Special Working Group; a special working delegation from the three provinces of Vientiane, Xay Xom Bun and Xieng Khouang.

On the Vietnamese side, there were comrades: Le Ngoc Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Special Working Committee of Nghe An province; Colonel Tran Van Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Commander of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command; representatives of the leaders of Ky Son district and a large number of cadres, party members and people in the area.

In a solemn and dignified atmosphere, delegates and people of all ethnic groups in Ky Son respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate the martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the noble international revolutionary cause and for the special and everlasting friendship between the people of Vietnam and Laos.

Earlier, also in the morning of the same day at Nam Can International Border Gate, the Party Committee, government and people of Nam Can commune organized a ceremony to offer flowers and incense to welcome the martyrs.

After the welcoming ceremony in Ky Son, the remains of 98 martyrs were brought back to be buried at Nghi Loc district cemetery, Nghe An province.
