Mong people in Mai Son commune believe in the Party
(Baonghean)- More than 10 years ago, the poverty rate of Mong ethnic people in Pha Khao and Pieng Coc villages, Mai Son commune (Tuong Duong) was over 95%, political security was always unstable, illegal proselytizing, free migration, opium cultivation, drug trafficking and use were rampant.

Faced with that situation, the local Party Committee and government started with practical actions combined with close and sincere contacts, helping people realize that the Party is a specific organization, putting forth policies and methods to directly care for people's lives and serve their legitimate interests.
Border guards help people build houses
In developing agricultural and forestry production, the commune has directed all levels and sectors to mobilize people to apply science and technology to production, change the structure of crops and livestock, invest in intensive cultivation of food crops and upland rice, maintain and develop livestock and poultry, take good care of and protect existing forest areas, promote planting new forests and raw material forests for the processing industry, and minimize deforestation for slash-and-burn farming. Infrastructure has received attention for investment and construction.
Many inter-village roads, roads to commune centers, to villages and hamlets have been newly opened, many irrigation works have been invested in construction and renovation. The school network has been expanded, all villages have classrooms, the quality of education in schools has changed positively, the rate of Mong ethnic students of school age has reached over 90%, the rate of mobilizing children from 4 to 5 years old to kindergarten, 6 years old to grade 1 has been raised, the rate of dropout students has decreased significantly. The level of awareness of the Party, cultural level, awareness of law observance and the ability to gather the masses are always focused on.
Mr. Lo Dai Duong - Chairman of the Fatherland Front of Mai Son commune, confided: "We have coordinated to promote the role of village elders, prestigious people, the role of the Front, coordinated to propagate the policies of the Party and State, not allowing people to replant opium poppies, not allowing illegal migration, illegal proselytizing, and stabilizing social order and security in Mai Son commune."
Understanding and living, working and following the Party's policies and the State's laws, the lives of the Mong people in Mai Son commune have not only been stable, but many households have risen to become rich legitimately, their children have been able to study properly; trust in the Party Committee and local government has been increasingly strengthened.
