Comrade Le Hong Son's real name is Le Van Phan, from Xuan Ho village, Xuan Lieu commune (now Xuan Hoa commune), Nam Dan district, Nghe An province.

Le Hong Son was born on June 29, 1899, into a Confucian family with a patriotic spirit against the French. His father was Le Van Hanh, who passed the Chinese bachelor's degree but stayed home to teach Chinese characters; his mother was Dinh Thi Chut, the daughter of a farmer family in the same village.

Aliases of comrade Le Hong Son: Chu Boi Trinh, Ha Thieu Dong, Do, Tan Anh, Le Thieu To, Vu Hong Anh, Vu Nguyen Trinh, Do Tri Phuong, Dau, Do, Ly Hung Quoc, Tinh An.

In early 1920, at Dang Thuc Hua's call, Le Hong Son went to Siam with Ho Tung Mau, Ly Phuong Thuan, Dang Quynh Anh, and Dang Xuan Thanh. Dang Thuc Hua sent him to Hainan (China) to study. At the end of 1920, Le Hong Son went to Guangzhou. In March 1921, he went to Hangzhou to meet Phan Boi Chau and Ho Hoc Lam.

In 1923, Le Hong Son, Ho Tung Mau and a number of patriotic youths in Guangzhou founded the organization "Tam Tam commune”. In June 1924, the Whampoa Military Academy of the Sun Yat-sen Revolutionary Government was established following the model of the Soviet Red Army. Le Hong Son, Le Hong Phong and Truong Van Linh were admitted to the first class of the school.

At the end of 1924, after meeting comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc, Le Hong Son understood what Communism was. In 1925, Le Hong Son and 8 other outstanding young people were selected by Nguyen Ai Quoc to join the organization.Adolescent Communist group; and he was admitted to the Party. After graduating from the Whampoa Military Academy, Le Hong Son joined the Communist Party of China. He became a powerful assistant to comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc in training and educating cadres to spread Marxism-Leninism in Vietnam. He was a memberin the "Union of Oppressed Peoples of East Asia""belongs to the Eastern Division of the Communist International.

In April 1927, Chiang Kai-shek betrayed Sun Yat-sen's communist line and brutally suppressed the Chinese Communist Party. Le Hong Son and a number of Vietnamese revolutionary cadres were imprisoned by Chiang's henchmen. Under pressure from the people at home and in China, in October 1927, they had to release Le Hong Son and other comrades. After the failure of the Guangzhou uprising, Le Hong Son and a number of cadres in the Youth General Department fled to Hong Kong.

Authorized by the Communist International, comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc traveled from Siam to Kowloon near Hong Kong (China) to convene a conference to unify communist organizations and establish the Communist Party of Vietnam on February 3, 1930. Le Hong Son was one of the people who actively helped comrade Nguyen Ai Quoc in organizing this historic conference.

In January 1931, comrade Le Hong Son was arrested by Chiang Kai-shek's government. With the help of Ho Hoc Lam, he was released but expelled from China. He went to Burma, then to Siam to work. At this time, the revolutionary movement in the country (1931-1932) was being severely terrorized by the French colonialists, the Party organization from the Central to the grassroots had been broken. Le Hong Son discussed with some Nghe Tinh cadres who had just come from the country to contact the other party to establish an Indochina Revolutionary Aid Committee to prepare for the restoration of the revolutionary movement in the country. The French colonialists were extremely frightened, they tried every way to capture him, but with 25 name changes, they could not find him. On September 25, 1932, they finally arrested Le Hong Son and Tran Ngoc Danh at the hotel "Binh Giang Inn"in Shanghai (China).

The French colonialists hastily transferred comrade Le Hong Son to Hanoi on October 24, 1932 and to Vinh on November 9, 1932.

On December 24, 1932, the Nam Trieu Court of Nghe An province opened a special trial to sentence comrade Le Hong Son to death with Verdict No. 276. And the French colonialists carried out the sentence on February 20, 1933 (ie January 26, Quy Dau year) at Cho Tro (Xuan Ho village), comrade's hometown.
