MU's number one striker this season, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has been seriously injured and will definitely not be able to play for the rest of the season. In Ibra's absence, Rashford will have to step up and fill this void. It seems like a heavy task for the striker who is only 19 years old, but Jesse Lingard believes Rashford is brave enough to stand up to the pressure.

Lingard said: “Rashford has improved a lot since last season. Rashford is young and has a lot to learn, but no one can doubt his ability to score goals. Rashford is very brave. A period of 6 months without scoring does not destroy him. Rashford will always score goals regardless of his position, whether he plays as a striker or a winger.”

Lingard also revealed the close relationship between him and his junior Rashford. Both grew up in the MU training academy and coordinated very well in the Red Devils' 2-0 win over Chelsea last weekend. Lingard hopes he and Rashford will maintain that in tonight's match at Burnley.

Lingard added: “We have a great connection on the pitch. Chelsea can’t break that and we have to maintain that against Burnley. We have each other’s backs. If one of us falls, the other picks us up. Together, we won’t let anyone bully us.”

Michael Carrick, MU's vice-captain, also put his faith in Rashford: "We forgot that Rashford is young. He provided everything, helping MU win against Anderlecht and Chelsea. Rashford is having great excitement in every step."
