Weather forecast for May 21: Floods are likely to occur in the North Central provinces

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on May 21, the cold continental high pressure in the North continued to strengthen, compress and push the low pressure trough with an axis at about 19-22 degrees North latitude to the South.

Due to the impact of the compressed low pressure trough, from now until early morning of May 22, in the Northern provinces and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh, there will be widespread thunderstorms, with moderate rainfall, and in some places heavy to very heavy rain (common rainfall 30-60mm/24 hours, in some places over 80mm/24 hours). During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind; disaster risk level due to tornadoes, lightning, hail: level 1.

Warning: From now until May 22, there is a possibility of a small flood on rivers and streams in the mountainous areas of the North and provinces from Thanh Hoa to Ha Tinh; there is a risk of landslides in mountainous areas and flooding in low-lying areas in the above areas.

Hail and tornado occurred in Nghe An on May 20.
