Coffee prices increased for the third consecutive session today, with both international and domestic markets heating up due to many factors from costs to politics.

World coffee prices have had a remarkable series of increases. Robusta has had 3 consecutive sessions of increase, with 4 sessions of increase and only one session of slight decrease throughout the week. After a decline in the first week of September, coffee prices quickly recovered in the second week, bringing excitement to stockpilers.

One of the main reasons for the high coffee prices is the rising cost of production. Fertilizer, labor, energy and transportation costs have all increased sharply. Farmers and exporters are forced to adjust their selling prices to cover these increased costs.

Not only that, international shipping costs also increased due to fuel prices and logistics barriers, pushing up export coffee prices.

The coffee market is also affected by political factors. The US recently imposed a 50% import tax on coffee from Brazil, changing the global trade flow. Instead of exporting large volumes to the US, Brazil shifted to Europe and Asia. This change created disruption in supply and put additional upward pressure on international prices.

Global coffee demand continues to boom, and with adverse weather conditions in many growing regions, coffee prices are expected to remain high. Both growers and exporters are hopeful that this increase will open up good opportunities to improve profits, although it comes with many challenges related to costs and political volatility.
