At the end of last week, coffee prices in the Central Highlands region increased sharply from 7,200 to 7,800 VND/kg, equivalent to an increase of 6.4% to 7% compared to the previous week.

Specifically, coffee prices in Dak Nong increased by 7,200 VND/kg last week, Dak Lak and Gia Lai increased by 7,000 VND/kg and 7,400 VND/kg respectively. Notably, Lam Dong recorded the strongest increase of 7,800 VND/kg, although it is still the locality with the lowest price in the region.

The high price of coffee has caused many growers to decide to sell off their inventory. They do so to clear their warehouses and prepare for the new harvest that will begin in more than half a month.

Coffee prices rose last week mainly due to two reasons. Coffee inventories on the market are decreasing, and the US dollar is also losing value compared to the currencies of many major coffee exporting countries.

A positive sign is that the actual export coffee prices achieved by Vietnamese enterprises remain at a good level. According to data from the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association (VICOFA), in August 2025, the export volume of Robusta coffee reached nearly 64 thousand tons, bringing in 288 million USD. In the same period, Arabica coffee exports reached 1,179 tons with a turnover of 7.83 million USD.

Thus, the average export price of Robusta coffee is 4,502 USD/ton, while Arabica is 6,640 USD/ton. In the first 8 months of 2025, the export turnover of Robusta coffee reached nearly 5.08 billion USD from a volume of more than 982 thousand tons, equivalent to an average price of 5,173 USD/ton.
