Domestic experts predict that Vietnam's coffee output will increase significantly in the next few years. In the past two years, coffee prices have been good, so farmers have focused on investing in garden care, and productivity has increased significantly.
Furthermore, the Coffee Replanting Project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with the World Bank (2014-2022) has had positive effects on both productivity and output. Not to mention, in many provinces of the Central Highlands, the newly planted area has continuously increased but there are no specific statistics, making it difficult to forecast total output.
World coffee prices today
Coffee prices on the world market also fluctuate:
Robusta Coffee (London):
March 2025 delivery: Up 34 USD/ton, to 4,897 USD/ton.
Delivery in May 2025: Up 33 USD/ton, to 4,829 USD/ton.

March 2025 delivery: Up 4.15 cents/lb, to 326.1 cents/lb.
May 2025 delivery: Up 4.15 cents/lb, to 322.15 cents/lb.
Coffee prices on both exchanges are under pressure from rising inventories. In addition, traders say Brazil’s robusta crop is in good condition and Brazil could even surpass Vietnam as the world’s largest robusta producer this year.
Recently, according to the announcement of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, in December 2024, Vietnam's total coffee export volume reached 127,655 tons, a sharp increase of 102.6%; the total export value also increased by more than 95%, equivalent to over 686.5 million USD. This information has contributed to putting pressure on Robusta coffee prices since the end of last week.
Cocoa and robusta coffee prices are set to hit record highs in 2024, while arabica has surged to its highest level since 1977 due to adverse weather conditions and tight supplies in key producing regions, according to Rabobank.
Rabobank researchers say that these commodities are trading at a significant premium to their production costs, so production will increase and demand will fall this year. In addition, the EU’s temporary suspension of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is expected to bring stability to markets.
