In the Vietnamese market, some experts predict that domestic coffee prices may face slight downward pressure in the near future. This is due to the gradual release of new supply from the harvest, while global demand is showing signs of decreasing due to excessively high prices.

However, the price drop may not be too significant because the supply from farmers to the market will not be overwhelming. Last year, the sharp increase in coffee prices provided growers with good incomes, thus reducing financial pressure. This allowed farmers to proactively hold onto their stock instead of selling it off immediately.

World coffee prices today

Coffee prices on the world market are also subject to many fluctuations:

Robusta coffee (London):

May 2025 delivery: Increased by $47/ton, to $5,516/ton.

July 2025 delivery: Increased by $43/ton, to $5,495/ton.

Arabica coffee (New York):

May 2025 delivery: Up 8.05 cents/lb, to 391.85 cents/lb.

July 2025 delivery: Up 7.55 cents/lb, to 384.9 cents/lb.

According to Reuters, many coffee traders and roasters around the world are cutting their purchases to a minimum. The sharp rise in coffee prices is making importers hesitant, while suppliers are struggling to convince retailers to accept the higher prices.

Some brokers say that customers are now risk-averse, buying only what they need immediately instead of placing orders for later delivery. Transactions in Brazil are also proceeding very cautiously.

Meanwhile, a Reuters survey predicts that arabica coffee prices could fall by 30% by the end of this year. This is due to excessively high prices reducing demand, coupled with signs of a bumper crop in Brazil next year. However, before prices fall significantly, the coffee industry still faces many challenges.
