With only 2 months left until the Lunar New Year 2025, after the African swine fever (ASF) epidemic was controlled, people have proactively restored their herds, expanded their farming, and applied biosecurity methods. The goal is to ensure a sufficient supply of pork for the Tet market.

Although the epidemic has been controlled, the risk of DTLCP recurrence is still very high. Currently, the whole country has 142 communes in 26 provinces and cities that have not passed 21 days of epidemic control.

The erratic weather at the end of the year creates favorable conditions for the ASF virus to survive and spread. The risk increases due to the lack of biosecurity in household farming, lax control of pig slaughter and trade in some localities, and low vaccination rates for ASF in pigs.

Implementing Directive 41 of the Prime Minister, requiring all levels and sectors to resolutely deploy solutions to prevent and control ASF. The goal is to effectively prevent the disease from recurring, protect pig herds and ensure adequate food supply for the 2025 Lunar New Year.
