The pig market today is relatively stable in the North, while the Central and South have mixed fluctuations. Pig prices in the three regions are currently fluctuating between 58,000 - 64,000 VND/kg.

Currently, pig farmers in Quang Nam are actively restocking and focusing on disease prevention to meet the demand for pork consumption at the end of the year and during the Lunar New Year.

The province currently has a total pig herd of about 375,000, of which about 10,000 are raised on farms. Since the beginning of the year, the province has recorded 56 outbreaks of African swine fever in 12 districts and cities. The authorities have proactively implemented disease control measures to stabilize the livestock situation.

However, the risk of disease recurrence remains high, especially during the end of the year and Tet, as pathogens still exist in the environment, livestock transportation and trading activities increase sharply, and weather is erratic.

Therefore, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine recommends that localities should proactively promote and guide farmers to apply biosafety measures. Farmers need to choose pig breeds with clear origins, fully vaccinate, and clean and disinfect barns weekly to prevent pathogens. At the same time, it is necessary to focus on disease prevention so that the pig herd can grow healthily, minimize risks and ensure supply for the Tet market.
