According to information from the Dien Chau District Portal, Nghe An Province, since the beginning of the year, African swine fever has appeared in 10 communes in the district, with a total of 98 pigs destroyed, weighing more than 4 tons. Currently, three communes are still affected by the epidemic: Minh Chau, Dien Quang and Dien Yen.

To prevent the spread of the disease, the People's Committee of Dien Chau district issued an urgent dispatch requesting communes to increase propaganda so that people understand and properly implement disease prevention measures. The district also required households and slaughterhouses to sign a commitment not to slaughter or transport dead or sick pigs, and to report to local authorities for proper handling.

In addition, the district has prepared 2 tons of chemicals to provide to localities for disinfection. Thanks to that, there has been one commune where no new outbreaks have occurred in the past 21 days.

Mr. Le The Hieu, Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dien Chau district, said that during this time, the rainy weather increased the risk of disease spread. The district has made a plan to divide the area into high, medium and low risk levels, and directed people to practice safe animal husbandry, cook food thoroughly, drink clean water, and disinfect to prevent the disease from spreading.
