In the Mekong Delta, rice prices increased slightly on September 5, 2024. Demand for rice decreased after the holiday, leading to slower transactions and lower prices at warehouses. In An Cu and Sa Dec, low rice arrivals and bad weather affected rice receipt and selection.

The price of IR 504 Summer-Autumn raw rice is currently 11,250 - 11,350 VND/kg, an increase of 150 VND compared to the previous day. The price of IR 504 finished rice remains at 13,250 - 13,350 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND.

In the retail market, the prices of rice remain unchanged, with Nang Nhen rice having the highest price of 28,000 VND/kg.

Other types of rice such as Jasmine, Nang Hoa, and regular rice cost from 15,000 to 21,000 VND/kg depending on the type.

Japanese rice costs VND22,000/kg, while common white rice and Soc rice usually cost from VND17,000 to VND18,000/kg.

The rice market today recorded a slowdown in transactions, with few buyers appearing at warehouses. In Ca Mau, the harvest is underway and rice prices have decreased slightly. In Long An, rice is in the waiting-for-harvest stage with prices decreasing and buyers are low.

Soc Trang saw rice prices continue to fall after the holiday, and trading activities were not active. According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang, rice prices today remained unchanged compared to yesterday:

IR 50404 costs from 7,900 - 8,000 VND/kg.

Dai Thom 8 rice costs from 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg.

OM 5451 rice costs from 8,200 - 8,400 VND/kg.

OM 18 rice costs from 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg.

OM 380 rice costs 7,800 VND/kg.

Japanese rice costs from 7,800 - 8,000 VND/kg.

Nang Nhen rice (dry) costs 20,000 VND/kg.

The sticky rice market has not changed compared to yesterday. The price of IR 4625 sticky rice is currently 7,400 - 7,600 VND/kg, unchanged. The price of An Giang sticky rice is 7,000 - 7,200 VND/kg, unchanged as before.

The price of rice by-products ranges from 6,900 to 9,300 VND/kg. Specifically, the price of OM 5451 broken rice is 9,200 - 9,300 VND/kg.

The price of dry bran has slightly decreased, currently 6,800 - 6,900 VND/kg, down 100 VND compared to before.

Rice export price today September 5, 2024

Vietnam's rice export prices remain stable, unchanged from yesterday. Current prices:

100% broken rice: 452 USD/ton

Standard 5% broken rice: 575 USD/ton

25% broken rice: 535 USD/ton

In the first 8 months of 2024, Vietnam exported 6.2 million tons of rice, earning 3.85 billion USD. Compared to 2023, the export volume increased by 5.9% and the value increased by 21.7%.

The average export price in the first 8 months was 542 USD/ton, up 11.5% compared to the previous year. The price of 5% broken rice from Vietnam reached the highest level in the world: 578 USD/ton. This price is higher than that of Thai and Pakistani rice: 12 USD and 39 USD/ton.

Global rice import demand is increasing, especially from major markets such as the Philippines, Indonesia, China, Ghana, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Vietnam expands export markets to South Korea, Japan, the Middle East, Africa, and South America. Vietnam's rice export target in 2024 is over 5 billion USD.
