In localities, rice prices tend to decrease slightly due to low rice supply. Warehouses buy less, causing the price of poor quality rice to decrease, while the price of good quality rice remains stable.

Specifically, in Sa Dec (Dong Thap), rice supply is low and some warehouses are buying more slowly, waiting for prices to drop before buying.

In Lap Vo - Vam Cong, warehouses also buy less and poor quality rice from other areas is less available, causing prices to drop.

At Sa Dec market, the amount of rice arriving is low and the market warehouses buy sporadically, causing the price of rice to also decrease slightly.

In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), rice supply is low and the price of good rice remains stable.

At retail markets, rice prices today remain unchanged from yesterday, fluctuating between 16,000 - 17,000 VND/kg for regular rice.

Export rice price

In the international market, the price of 5% broken white rice from Vietnam continued to decrease by 3 USD/ton, currently reaching 514 USD/ton. Similarly, the price of 100% broken rice also decreased by 3 USD/ton, down to 405 USD/ton.

Meanwhile, the price of Thai 5% broken white rice increased by 3 USD/ton to 502 USD/ton, helping to maintain the competitiveness of Thai rice in the market. In contrast, the price of Pakistani 5% broken white rice decreased by 1 USD/ton to 452 USD/ton, while the price of Indian rice remained stable at 451 USD/ton.

According to a report from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as of the end of November, Vietnam had exported nearly 8.5 million tons of rice, earning a value of 5.31 billion USD, up 22.4% over the same period last year. Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien said that with this growth momentum, rice export turnover in 2024 could reach a new record, surpassing the 9 million ton mark.

Notably, 85% of rice varieties in Vietnam are new varieties, of which 89% are high-quality rice. Low-emission rice varieties and the ongoing 1 million hectare high-quality rice program promise to enhance the position of Vietnamese rice in the international market.

Currently, the price of Vietnamese rice is at 623 USD/ton, not affected by India's opening of the market, which shows the outstanding advantage of Vietnamese rice in export. Vietnam is also moving towards a green and circular economy, which contributes to increasing the value of rice in the long term.
