Vegetable prices increased sharply after the storm

While harvesting vegetables, Ms. Tran Thi Ha in Hamlet 2, Thach Son Commune happily said: My family has 1 sao of land used to grow vegetables all year round. This time, my family mainly grows amaranth, Malabar spinach, and mustard greens. In recent days, due to heavy rain, vegetables in the area have been scarce, so they sell for a very good price. Currently, mustard greens, amaranth, and Malabar spinach cost from 5,000 to 6,000 VND/bunch, while on normal days they are only 3,000 VND; on average, my family earns 250,000 to 300,000 VND per day.

Along with vegetables, after the storm, winter melon also brought high income to many farming households in Anh Son. Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai in village 4, Cam Son commune said: Despite the heavy rain for the past two days, her family still had to go to the fields to harvest winter melon in time for the harvest and to sell at a good price. With an area of ​​1.5 sao, the family harvested an average of 60-80 kg of fruit per day. Due to the scarcity of green vegetables in the market, the price of winter melon was pushed up to 8,000-10,000 VND/kg. After deducting expenses, her family earned 500,000 VND per day.

Currently, the entire Anh Son district has nearly 40 hectares of specialized vegetable production, concentrated in the communes of Cam Son, Thach Son, Tao Son with mustard greens, amaranth, jute to squash, bitter melon... are easy to grow and care for vegetables. Specialized vegetable cultivation has helped many farming households in Anh Son escape poverty and stabilize their lives.
