For the world market, according to experts, global pepper supply is very limited and demand is expected to continue to increase or remain stable. This will create pressure to increase prices.
Global pepper prices, which experienced a spike in mid-2024, are expected to continue rising this year as production continues to decline and demand outstrips supply, according to Thestar.
'Currently, pepper supply in the global market is very scarce and demand is expected to continue to increase or remain stable. This will continue to push prices up.
“If China (a major consumer but a small importer in 2024) increases its purchases, prices will rise even more. I am very optimistic about pepper prices this year and in 2026,” said veteran trader William SC Yii, director of leading pepper exporter Nguong Aik Kuching Sdn Bhd.
