Despite the strong increase in pepper production, the global pepper industry still faces many challenges. In Vietnam, pepper inventories are currently very low. In addition, the 2025 harvest is expected to start 1-2 months later and produce lower output due to prolonged drought.
The decline in supply could lead to a shortage in the global market, creating conditions for pepper prices to increase in the coming time. However, the pressure from the USD exchange rate and the cash flow shifting to coffee is still having a significant impact on the industry.
Pepper exports to the US and Europe are increasing, but decreasing in the Chinese and Middle Eastern markets. This causes market prices to fluctuate suddenly, causing difficulties for businesses. At the same time, strict regulations on pesticide residues and environmental standards in major markets continue to put pressure on pepper production and export processes.
It is forecasted that pepper prices will continue to fluctuate in the coming time due to supply and demand factors in the domestic and international markets. The combination of low inventory levels and high demand can push prices to new levels, bringing opportunities but also posing many challenges for the pepper industry.
