Giá tiêu hôm nay 26/3/2025: Đột ngột giảm mạnh

Domestic pepper prices increased by 68.4% compared to the same period last year, when the price last year was only around 95,000 VND/kg. The high pepper price while export output decreased shows that the supply in 2025 is much lower than last year.

In Dak Nong – the largest pepper growing region in the country, although the harvest is going strong, farmers are still holding on to their products and are not in a hurry to sell, leading to limited supply to the market. In Dak Lak, the second largest producer, the harvest is expected to begin in the next 2-3 weeks, causing the market to worry about short-term supply pressure.

Ptexim's survey shows that Dak Nong has completed about 70% of the harvest area. Lam Dong has harvested 60%, Dak Lak about 40%, while Gia Lai, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai and Ba Ria - Vung Tau have reached about 50%.

Although many places have harvested more than half of the area, farmers continue to hoard their products in the expectation that pepper prices will increase. This has led to less pepper being stored by businesses and traders, thereby limiting the ability to manipulate prices like in previous years. In the long term, the pepper market is still positively assessed thanks to high consumption demand and expectations that China will soon increase imports again.

In the short term, domestic pepper prices may decrease slightly due to the harvest season, temporarily increasing supply. However, international pepper prices are expected to maintain an upward trend because global supply has not improved significantly and consumption demand in many markets remains high.

Pepper price today March 26 in the world market

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on March 26 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices were stable at USD 7,241 per tonne from yesterday. Similarly, Muntok white pepper prices were unchanged at USD 10,069 per tonne from yesterday.

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,000/mt.

Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,900/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $12,400/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 7,100 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 7,300 USD/ton.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $10,100/ton.

According to the latest report from Ptexim, the week from March 16 to 23 recorded improved demand in regions such as the EU, the US and some Asian countries. In contrast, the Chinese market has not seen many positive changes.

Vietnam is expected to export only about 16,000-18,000 tons of pepper in March, bringing the total export volume in the first quarter of 2025 to about 43,000-45,000 tons - the lowest level in the past 6 years. Part of the reason is that this year's harvest started late, combined with farmers' reluctance to sell at the present time.

Faced with a shortage of domestic supply, many processing enterprises have increased pepper imports from other countries. According to data from Comexstat, Brazil exported 12,200 tons of pepper in the first two months of the year, reaching a turnover of 76.37 million USD, a slight increase in volume but a 92% increase in turnover compared to the same period last year.

Vietnam is currently Brazil's largest pepper import market, with 4,203 tons worth 25.9 million USD in the first two months of the year, up 52.7% in volume and nearly three times in value. Vietnam's market share in Brazil's pepper exports also increased sharply, from 23.1% to 34.4%.
