Pepper price today March 24 in the world market
In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Association (IPC) updated the prices of all types of pepper traded in the international market on March 24 (local time) as follows:
Indonesia’s Lampung black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $7,267 per tonne. Similarly, Muntok white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $10,207 per tonne.
Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at USD 7,000/mt.
Malaysia’s ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,900/ton. Meanwhile, the country’s ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $12,400/ton.
Prices of all types of Vietnamese pepper remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 7,100 USD/ton; 550 gr/l reached 7,300 USD/ton.
Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at USD 10,100/ton.
In the international market, pepper prices also tend to increase in major exporting countries. Specifically, black pepper prices in Vietnam, Brazil and Malaysia all increased by 100 USD/ton. Indonesia alone recorded a slight increase of 2 USD/ton.
While black pepper prices increased, white pepper prices fluctuated in opposite directions last week. Indonesian Muntok white pepper decreased slightly by 0.44%, while Malaysian and Vietnamese white pepper both increased by 100 USD/ton.
In India, pepper production is expected to fall sharply this year in key growing regions like Chikkamagaluru and Hassan due to adverse weather conditions. Factors such as lack of rain during flowering, heavy rains during the monsoon, heat and low humidity have damaged pepper vines, leading to a drop in production. Many farmers said they have lost 20 to 40 percent of their output compared to last year.
In addition, root rot and stem borer diseases continue to cause damage, while poor water management and lack of irrigation systems further aggravate the situation. However, many farmers still expect pepper prices to remain high thanks to the global production decline.
According to forecasts, Sri Lanka's pepper output in 2025 may decrease to 14,000 tons, much lower than the 20,000 tons in 2024. This shows that supply in major exporting countries is facing challenges, contributing to maintaining the trend of high world pepper prices in the coming time.
