According to the General Department of Customs, in the first half of September, Vietnam exported 9,720 tons of pepper, worth 63.7 million USD. Compared to the same period last year, this figure increased by 28.5% in volume and 35.1% in value, showing that market demand is recovering positively.

From the beginning of the year to September 15, pepper exports reached 175,818 tons, earning nearly 1.2 billion USD. Although the export volume decreased by 8.1% and was the lowest level since 2018, the value increased by 28.7%, the highest ever in the same period, thanks to the average pepper price reaching 6,789 USD/ton, up 40% compared to 2024.

It is forecasted that in the coming time, pepper prices will continue to fluctuate due to the influence of weather and world demand. However, the short-term market is still considered quite favorable. The reason is that the supply from some countries is limited, while the demand from major pepper import markets tends to increase.

The domestic situation is supporting pepper prices to remain high. Inventories are decreasing due to the end of the harvest season. In addition, Vietnamese enterprises are also limiting the import of raw pepper for re-export to the US, because the transit tax is up to 40%, helping to increase the advantage of domestic pepper sources.
