By 2025, Vietnam's pepper output is expected to recover and increase to 200,000 tons, while output in India is expected to decrease by 25-30% due to adverse weather.
With limited supply and high demand, pepper prices are forecast to continue to increase in the coming time. The expected increase ranges from 500 - 1,500 VND/kg in some areas, especially in localities with active purchasing activities such as Dak Nong, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, and Dak Lak.
In 2024, Vietnam imported 36,727 tons of pepper of all kinds. Of which, black pepper reached 31,755 tons and white pepper reached 4,972 tons.
Total pepper import turnover reached 176.2 million USD; an increase of 38.4% in volume and 99.5% in value compared to 2023.
Indonesia, Brazil and Cambodia are the three largest pepper suppliers to Vietnam in 2024, reaching 17,194 tons, 9,558 tons and 6,798 tons respectively.

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $9,600/ton.
According to experts, the sharp increase in pepper prices in the first week of the new year 2025 is a positive signal for the Vietnamese pepper industry, especially in the context of low inventories and increasing demand from major markets such as the US, EU, and China.
The 2025 pepper crop in Vietnam will be harvested almost entirely in February, with some areas extending to March and April, 1-2 months later than previous years due to the impact of prolonged drought, making pepper supply increasingly difficult.
In addition, farmers' maintenance and production of pepper are increasingly being competed by durian and coffee trees.
