Giá tiêu hôm nay 9/1/2025: Tăng 500 đồng, giá tiêu xuất khẩu giảm

The recent increase in pepper prices is attributed to many supporting factors both domestically and internationally. Domestic supply is limited because pepper growing areas continue to shrink as farmers switch their crop structure to durian and coffee. Furthermore, high production costs and unfavorable weather factors have directly affected output.

With the above supporting factors, experts predict that domestic pepper prices on January 9, 2025 will continue to increase by 500 - 1,500 VND/kg in some key areas.

Dak Nong is expected to maintain the highest price, around 152,000 - 153,000 VND/kg. Dak Lak and Ba Ria - Vung Tau may reach 151,000 VND/kg, while localities such as Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, and Gia Lai will increase to 149,500 - 150,500 VND/kg.

World pepper price today

In the world market, based on quotes from export enterprises and export prices in various countries, the International Pepper Community (IPC) has updated the prices of pepper of all types traded in the international market on January 9 (local time) as follows:

Indonesian Lampung black pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,838/ton (down 0.2%). Meanwhile, Muntok white pepper prices remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,949/ton (down 0.19%).

Brazilian black pepper ASTA 570 price remained unchanged from yesterday at $6,325/ton.

Malaysia's ASTA black pepper price remained unchanged from yesterday at $8,500/ton. In addition, the country's ASTA white pepper price also remained unchanged from yesterday at $10,700/ton.

Prices of all types of pepper in Vietnam decreased slightly compared to yesterday. Of which, the price of Vietnamese black pepper 500 gr/l reached 6,350 USD/ton (down 0.79%); 550 gr/l reached 6,650 USD/ton (down 0.75%).

Similarly, Vietnam's white pepper price decreased compared to yesterday, reaching 9,550 USD/ton (down 0.52%).

The pepper market is generally quiet with low trading volume. Farmers, dealers and exporters are limiting transactions and continuing to stockpile in the expectation that prices will increase rapidly after the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday.

Therefore, it can be seen that the amount of pepper available for export in January and February will be very limited, putting great pressure on current inventories, as the main harvest will start in March or April, in the context that this year's crop is expected to arrive later than usual due to climate change.

With just one month left until the Lunar New Year, which starts on January 25 and ends on February 2, 2025, it will be quite a long holiday for farmers and workers.
