The current buying price of SJC 9999 gold rings is 87.3 million VND/tael and the selling price is 90.1 million VND/tael. A sharp decrease of 1 million VND/tael in both buying and selling directions compared to the end of yesterday's trading session.
For Hung Thinh Vuong 9999 gold ring (DOJI), the buying price dropped sharply to 88.3 million VND/tael and the selling price dropped sharply to 90.3 million VND/tael, a decrease of 1 million VND/tael in buying and 800 thousand VND/tael in selling compared to yesterday.
Both 9999 gold rings and SJC gold bars have fallen to nearly 90 million VND/tael, with some businesses even listing SJC gold at under 90 million VND/tael.
However, the gap between domestic and world gold prices has widened to 1.3-1.5 million VND/tael. During the week, there were times when this gap narrowed to only 100-300 thousand VND/tael, and some businesses even listed SJC gold prices lower than world gold prices.
World gold price this afternoon February 15, 2025
As of 3:00 p.m. on February 15 (Vietnam time), the world spot gold price was at $2,882.85/ounce, down $51.5/ounce compared to last night. The gold futures price for April 2025 on the Comex New York floor was at $2,900/ounce.
Gold prices fell about 1.5% on Wednesday, pressured by profit-taking. However, the precious metal still recorded its seventh consecutive weekly gain. The rise in gold this week was fueled by safe-haven demand as President Donald Trump’s plan to impose reciprocal tariffs on countries that tax US imports raised concerns about a global trade war.
World gold prices fell freely despite a sharp decline in the USD index. Recorded at 6:35 a.m. on February 15, the US Dollar Index, which measures the greenback's fluctuations against six major currencies, was at 106,670 points (down 0.51%).
However, the market has recorded 7 consecutive weeks of increase, mainly due to concerns about trade tensions when US President Donald Trump launched a series of tariffs on countries. Gold prices are forecast to continue to increase, thanks to import taxes, inflation, the devaluation of the dollar and the wave of switching to physical gold this year, Alex Ebkarian - Director of Operations at Allegiance Gold commented.
Phillip Streible, chief strategist at Blue Line Futures, said the sell-off in silver dragged down the entire precious metals sector. He said that while silver’s move above $34 an ounce was a notable development, the high volatility meant that many investors did not miss the opportunity to take profits. The sharp drop in silver prices dragged global gold prices down below $2,900 an ounce.
Specifically, silver prices fell 0.3% to $32.2 an ounce. Platinum lost 1% to $985, while palladium fell 1.1% to $982. However, all three recorded increases for the week.
