Rescue of foreigners held hostage

Binh Tan District Police are coordinating with Ho Chi Minh City Police to contact Taiwanese investigators to clarify information that the victim in the case is an internationally wanted criminal.

On December 3, the Investigation Police Agency of Binh Tan District (HCMC) is temporarily detaining 10 suspects, including 3 Taiwanese (Chinese) and 7 Vietnamese, to clarify the act of illegal detention.

According to initial information, Binh Tan District Police coordinated with the Professional Department - Ho Chi Minh City Police to raid a house on 7A Street (Binh Tri Dong B Ward, Binh Tan District) to rescue a Taiwanese man who was being held hostage by a group of 10 people to collect debt.

According to the initial verification results, during the business process between the two parties, a debt of nearly 2 billion VND arose. After many times of debt collection failed, one person hired the above-mentioned group of suspects to arrest the other person to force him to pay the debt.

After the rescue, Ho Chi Minh City Police discovered that the victim in the incident was a suspect with an international arrest warrant. Ho Chi Minh City Police are continuing to verify and investigate to clarify the case.
