Previously, on May 18, Bien Hoa City People's Court sentenced defendant Luong to 4 years in prison for disturbing public order when he called gangster Giang "36" and his followers to surround a car carrying police officers from Dong Nai province.
Luong is the director of Phu Gia Luong Company Limited, headquartered on Vo Thi Sau Street (Tan Tien Ward, Bien Hoa City). From 2012 to 2018, Luong's company signed many construction contracts with localities to build roads, upgrade and repair offices and schools.
Although winning bids for many projects, Phu Gia Luong Company did not issue sales invoices, and issued invoices with a value lower than the actual amount settled for tax declaration.
During the investigation of the "disturbing public order" case initiated by Luong, the authorities determined that the company did not issue value-added invoices to declare and report taxes at 11 projects, and the company issued invoices for 9 other projects but recorded a value lower than the actual settlement value, causing a loss of more than 4.8 billion VND to the state budget.
Bien Hoa City Police Department has initiated a case and prosecuted Luong for tax evasion.
