(Baonghean) - The new school year has begun, most teachers across the province are comfortable with their daily lesson plans. However, in remote and difficult areas, there are still students absent from class, teachers still have to climb mountains and wade through streams to get to their villages, hoping to bring their students to class for a brighter future.

If children do not exercise, they will not go to school.

Entering the new school year, work is really busy, there are many things to deploy and arrange, aiming for smooth operation. In that hustle and bustle, for teachers in the highlands, the hardest thing is still about the campaign.students go to classBecause of family circumstances, some parents do not want or cannot create conditions for their children to go to class.

A typical example is Vu Ba Vu in Nhon Mai commune (Tuong Duong), whose house is in Huoi Man village but his whole family works on the farm and lives mainly in Con Tooc area, a day's walk away. Vu Ba Hai (5 years old, Vu's son) follows his parents to the farm and cannot return to the village to attend kindergarten every day.

Upon hearing the news, the teachers of Nhon Mai Kindergarten trekked through the forest and climbed uphill for half a day to reach Con Tooc area to persuade Vu and his wife to let Hai go to Pieng Luong village school, a few forests away. Hai would stay with teacher Lo Thi Huong - the person in charge of Pieng Luong school, and his parents would come to pick him up on weekends.

Happy as if he had struck gold, Vu Ba Vu confided: “Thanks to the enthusiastic teachers, my son was able to go to preschool. Otherwise, he would have had to follow his parents to work in the fields or hang around in huts and sheds.”

Also in Nhon Mai commune, like Vu Ba Vu, Xong Ca Denh's family in Pha Mut village moved to Pieng Na to farm and build a house and live here. This location used to be a farming area of Thai people who had relocated to resettlement areas more than 10 years ago, about 7-8 km from the center of Nhon Mai commune with a winding mountain pass.No school, Mr. Denh decided to let his 5-year-old son, Xong Ba Chua, follow his parents to the fields.

Through the dissemination work, understanding the situation, Ms. Vi Thi Hien - Principal and teachers of Nhon Mai Kindergarten went to Pieng Na to mobilize. Meeting Mr. Denh and his wife, Ms. Hien convinced Chua to go to the main school in Nhon Mai village, first the child will stay at the school. The teachers will take care of, teach and provide daily meals for the child, the parents can come to visit or pick up Chua on the weekend.

At first, Xong Ca Denh did not agree, partly because he was too busy and did not have the time or means to visit his child, and partly because he was afraid of bothering the teachers. But then, the enthusiasm and dedication of the teachers convinced the Mong couple to let Xong Ba Chua follow them to the main school.

Ms. Vi Thi Hien said: “Some Mong people in Nhon Mai still maintain the nomadic lifestyle, making it difficult for their children to go to school. With our conscience and responsibility for the children, we have tried to encourage parents to send their children to class, creating conditions and helping them have fun with their friends.”

Don't let students drop out of school to get married.

Not following nomadic parents, but beforeenter the school year, little Va Y Nu (5 years old) from Tham Tham village (Nhon Mai commune) is also at risk of not being able to go to school. For the past few years, Tham Tham village has not had enough students so it has not been able to establish a school, the preschool children have to go to Xoi Voi village to study, nearly 5 km from home.

The family of Mr. Va Chu Thai (Y Nu's father) is near-poor, life is still difficult and hard, so they do not want to send their daughter to Xoi Voi to attend preschool. The "reason" of this Mong father is that he has to go to work every day, does not have time to take and pick up his little daughter to school, so he lets her stay at home or go to the fields with her parents.

Not wanting to put Y Nu at a disadvantage compared to her peers, Ms. Ngan Thi Chien - the teacher in charge of Xoi Voi school, went to meet with her parents. Ms. Chien analyzed the pros and cons, and promised to help by taking and picking up Y Nu to class when her parents were busy. Finally, Va Chu Thai and his wife agreed to let their daughter go to class.

It is known that every year at the beginning of the new school year, departments and branches of Nhon Mai commune and schools often coordinate with the villages to mobilize families to create conditions for their children to go to school.

If Nhon Mai commune is the most remote place in Tuong Duong district, Keng Du commune is considered the "most remote place".the most remote area of Ky Son district. The majority of residents here are Khmu ethnic people, their economic and social life is still facing many difficulties, their educational level is still limited, so many families do not create conditions for their children to go to school. Some parents even agree to let their children drop out of school to get married.

Before the opening day, teachers of Keng Du Boarding Secondary School were assigned to go to the villages to inform students to return to school. But sadly, for various reasons, many students did not return to class. Among them, Luong Thi Dung (Koi Con village) and Xeo Thi Kho (Huoi Le village) got married and decided to drop out of school. Many students in remote villages such as Huoi Xui, Huoi Cang, Khe Linh, Hat Ta Ven had their parents work far away, so they had to stay home to take care of work.

Not only in Nhon Mai and Keng Du communes, the situationstudent absentIt also happens in many remote and extremely difficult areas such as Huu Khuong, Yen Tinh, Tam Hop, and Luong Minh communes (Tuong Duong). Of which, Luong Minh Boarding Secondary School alone has nearly 10 students dropping out of school, mostly because their parents work far away, and they have no one to take care of them and create conditions for them to go to class. Along with that, Tri Le (Que Phong), Mon Son (Con Cuong) and Muong Tip, Muong Ai, Bao Thang, Bao Nam (Ky Son) areas all have more or less students dropping out of school.

Mr. Phan Van Thiet - Head of the Department of Education and Training of Ky Son district said: "Initially, compared to previous years, the number of students absent from school at the beginning of the new school year has decreased significantly. However, due to remote areas, there are still some students who have not attended school, we are currently directing schools to continue to encourage parents to create conditions for their children to attend class fully."
