Killed love rival because husband called her "crazy"

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 26, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial to try the murder case against Le Thi Ngoan (born in 1982, residing in Tinh Gia district, Thanh Hoa province).

According to the indictment, Ngoan's husband, Duong Xuan Hung, worked as a construction worker in Yen Na commune (Tuong Duong). Suspecting that her husband had an illicit relationship with Vi Hong Van (born in 1988, residing in Yen Na commune), Ngoan and her husband often had conflicts.

On the morning of June 1, 2015, Ngoan took a bus from Thanh Hoa to Van’s house to talk. On the way, Ngoan stopped at the market to buy a knife, wrapped it in paper, and hid it in his waistband.

Arriving at Van's house, the two sides talked about the relationship between Van and Ngoan's husband. Van told Ngoan to leave her husband and that Van would raise the couple's three children. Ngoan angrily called her husband to have a "three-way conversation". Over the phone, Hung called Ngoan "crazy" and told her to go home and write a divorce petition. Van went to the back of the house to brush her teeth and wash her face.

Meanwhile, Ngoan continued to be scolded by her husband and asked for a divorce. Angry, Ngoan took a knife to the back of the house and slashed Van's neck. The two struggled and fell into the abyss. Van died on the spot, and Ngoan was taken to the emergency room.

At the trial, Le Thi Ngoan complained of a headache and could not remember the details of the incident. However, the panel of judges concluded that based on the investigation results, Ngoan’s statements at the investigation agency and the testimony of witnesses, there was sufficient basis to confirm that Le Thi Ngoan had committed murder.

After a comprehensive review of the case, the Provincial People's Court sentenced Le Thi Ngoan to 10 years in prison and ordered her to pay the victim 99 million VND in compensation. In addition, Ngoan must pay monthly child support of 500,000 VND to the victim's 7-year-old child until he or she becomes an adult.
