Ha Tinh explains about the broken field incident

Mr. Nguyen Van Hanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that the task force arbitrarily opened the door for relatives, causing Ha Tinh stadium to be overloaded during the match against Hanoi on June 12.

"Many forces on duty such as police, army, stadium management staff... opened the door to let in more than 1,000 family members, making it impossible for the organizers to control, leading to the stadium breaking down," said Mr. Hanh. "The number of tickets issued ensured the stadium's capacity. There were still empty seats in the stands, but many fans still poured down due to the hot weather, and partly due to social distancing to prevent the epidemic."

Ha Tinh Stadium, with a capacity of about 16,000 people, was almost full at the Ha Tinh - Ha Noi match in round 4 of V-League 2020 even though the organizers only printed 12,300 tickets for sale and 1,020 invitation tickets. At minute 20, thousands of people poured onto the sidelines to stand, causing the match to be suspended for about 20 minutes.
