Accordingly, at 6:00 p.m. on September 15, Nghe An Northwest Regional General Hospital received patient Nguyen Hoang A, 43 years old, from Nghia Binh commune, Tan Ky district, for emergency treatment in a state of hemorrhagic shock, abdominal and chest trauma, ruptured spleen; hemothorax, rib fractures. After consultation, patient A was indicated for surgery, splenectomy, pleural drainage, and urgent blood transfusion.

Patient Nguyen Hoang A has blood type O, while the hospital's blood bank has no more red blood cells of this blood type. Immediately, the hospital's Live Blood Bank Club sent two nurses, Phan Thanh Hung (General Surgery Department) and Bui Thi Hanh (Pediatrics Department), to donate two units of O blood, promptly saving the patient from the critical condition.
