Previously, at about 10:45 p.m. on December 16, Dien Chau District Police received a report of a traffic accident that occurred on the inter-commune road Dien Tho - Dien Loc. At the scene, 3 young men were seriously injured, of which 1 died, 2 were in critical condition and were taken to the hospital for emergency treatment, but 1 did not survive.
However, when arriving at the scene, the police determined that this was not a traffic accident but showed signs of murder because the victims' bodies showed signs of being slashed.
The identities of the two deceased victims were clarified as Cao Thai Duong (born in 1997, residing in Hamlet 8, Dien Trung Commune) and Le Van Anh (born in 2000, residing in Hamlet 4, Dien An Commune). The other seriously injured person is being treated at Nghe An Provincial General Hospital, Cao Van Chuyen (born in 1993, residing in Hamlet 4, Dien An Commune).
Identifying this as an especially serious murder case, the leaders of Nghe An Provincial Police directed relevant professional units to coordinate with Dien Chau District Police to quickly investigate and clarify.
By 8:30 p.m. on December 17, the police force had identified the perpetrators as Hoang Trung (born in 1999) and Nguyen Xuan Ngoc (born in 2001), both residing in Hamlet 7, Dien Tho Commune, and had persuaded the two subjects to come to the police station to surrender.

At the investigation agency, the two subjects confessed that although they did not know each other, while drinking at a snail restaurant in Dien Tho commune, the group of Cao Thai Duong, Le Van Anh and Cao Van Chuyen invited Trung to drink alcohol but he refused.
Angry at being refused a drink, after the party ended, Cao Thai Duong, Le Van Anh and Cao Van Chuyen blocked Trung and Ngoc's car and chased them. At this time, Ngoc pulled out a knife hidden in his pocket and stabbed Duong, Anh and Chuyen repeatedly, killing two and seriously injuring one. After committing the crime, Trung and Ngoc left their residence until they were persuaded to return and surrender.
