Greedy for 15 million dong in interest, "addict" gets 15 years in prison
(Baonghean.vn) - May is a drug addict. A Mong man let her buy a heroin stick and 12 pink pills for 15 million VND on credit and promised to bring the money back when she sold them. But when May was delivering the goods, she was caught red-handed, and the customer managed to escape.
On the morning of May 14, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a criminal trial, the first instance trial of the case of "illegal drug trafficking" against defendant Vy Van May (born 1993), residing in Block 2, Muong Xen town, Ky Son district.
According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Nghe An province, on the morning of December 27, 2017, at Block 1, Con Cuong town (Con Cong district), Con Cuong district police discovered May sitting behind a motorbike with license plate 37K1-039.33 driven by Lo Van Dung (residing in Ta Ca commune, Ky Son district), showing signs of illegal drug trafficking, so they conducted an inspection.

May was caught red-handed with evidence of 36.955 grams of heroin and 1.1 grams of synthetic drugs (Mthamphetamine).
During the investigation and May's testimony, the police determined that May was a drug addict and knew a Meo person who bought and sold drugs in Huoi Tu commune, Ky Son district.
On December 19, 2017, a man named Dung (in Con Cuong town) called May to discuss buying 1 heroin stick and 12 pink pills. May said “I have the goods” and agreed to sell for 30 million VND.
At around 1am on December 27, 2017, May went up a hill in Huoi Tu commune (Ky Son district) to meet a Meo man to buy 1 heroin stick and 12 pink pills for 15 million VND and May promised to bring the money back when she sold it. The Meo man agreed to sell drugs to May on credit.
May brought the drugs home and then called Lo Van Dung to invite him to go to Con Cuong town to play. Dung agreed to go.
However, when May arrived at the gate of TN Hotel and had not yet handed over the drugs to Dung in Con Cuong, she was caught red-handed by Con Cuong District Police. The man named Dung in Con Cuong managed to escape.
As for Mr. Lo Van Dung, he was invited by May to go out and did not know that May was buying and selling drugs, so there is no basis to prosecute Mr. Lo Van Dung.
At the trial, May confessed honestly, expressed remorse and asked for a lighter sentence.
After considering aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the first instance trial panel sentenced defendant May to 15 years in prison for illegal drug trafficking.
Considering that the defendant has no stable job, is in difficult circumstances, and has not made any illegal profits, the first instance trial panel exempts defendant May from additional punishment.
