Dozens of police surrounded and opened fire to control 5 people driving a car transporting drugs on National Highway 1A, through Ky Nam commune, Ky Anh town.

At around 10:00 a.m. on September 4, five men in a five-seat car with Nghe An license plates traveling on National Highway 1A in the North-South direction were stopped by dozens of officers and soldiers of Ha Tinh Police in coordination with the Ministry of Public Security at Deo Con Pass, Ky Nam Commune, Ky Anh Town, on suspicion of transporting drugs.

Authorities allege that five people disobeyed orders and sped away, forcing police to stop them.shootWhile being chased, the group's car swerved and hit the side of the police car blocking the way in front, but was still forced to stop close to the hard median strip in the middle of the highway.

Some people opened the door to escape but were rushed in from many directions by dozens of plainclothes police, who restrained them in the middle of the street.

Searching the car, detectives seized many heroin cakes and crystal meth in suitcases and backpacks.

At 11am the same day, the five suspects were taken to the Ky Anh Town Police Station to give statements. Authorities are taking the drug evidence for examination and have not yet released the suspects' identities.
