At Dung Vinh confectionery store on Nguyen Trai street, Vinh city, the days before Tet are always crowded with customers coming to shop. Not only buying to serve their family's needs, many people also buy confectionery, alcohol and beer to bring back to their hometown to give to their parents and relatives, so the consumption is quite strong. Ms. Le Thanh An in Nghi Phu commune, Vinh city shared: "The cold and rainy weather has been prolonged in the past few days, so almost everyone is reluctant to go shopping. Today, taking advantage of the dry weather, I went shopping to prepare Tet goods for my family. I have been busy all year round with business, Tet is an occasion for everyone to gather with their family, so I bought a lot of goods to worship Tet, serve daily consumption needs and also to bring back to my hometown to wish my parents and relatives a happy Tet."

Mr. To Thanh Nhan, Head of Vinh Market Management Board said: "Implementing Plan No. 12 of Vinh City People's Committee Chairman on management work at Vinh Market during the 2016 Lunar New Year, Vinh Market Management Board has deployed a detailed and specific plan to ensure good order and security, fire prevention and fighting to serve people coming to the market to buy and sell, ensure business and convenient travel. Small traders at the market have fully prepared essential goods, including ready-made garments, household goods, cosmetics, dry goods, fresh food, fruits to fully meet the purchasing power of people coming to Vinh Market.

In preparation for the 2016 Lunar New Year, in addition to the enterprises assigned by the Provincial People's Committee to reserve goods for price stabilization for Tet, shopping centers, supermarkets, traditional markets, and retail stores in the province have proactively reserved goods to serve the shopping and consumption needs of people during Tet, so there is an abundance of essential goods without any shortages. According to information from the Department of Industry and Trade, the consumer price index in January 2016 in Nghe An province decreased by 0.22% compared to December 2015, and increased by 1.23% compared to January 2015. Contrary to the rule of the month before Tet, CPI always increases (January 2013 increased by 1.21%, January 2014 increased by 0.82%, and January 2015 decreased by 0.34%).

The reason for the CPI decrease this month is partly due to the impact of the recent consecutive reduction in gasoline prices, plus two price reductions in the first month of 2016 (January 4 and January 19) with specific total reductions: RON 95, 92 gasoline decreased by VND980/liter, E5 RON 92 bio-fuel decreased by VND1,180/liter, and 0.05S diesel oil decreased by VND1,810/liter. The continuous reduction in gasoline prices has led to a decrease in transportation fares such as taxis and some passenger bus routes, causing the transportation group to decrease sharply (down 2.12% compared to the previous month).

Currently, in the province, the supply of rice is abundant, so the retail price is relatively stable, specifically: Local fragrant rice from 12,350-14,100 VND/kg; Agricultural products: Grade 1 peeled peanuts from 43,000-48,000 VND/kg; Grade 1 local green beans (peeled) selling price 45,000-48,000 VND/kg,...

For food products, retail prices are relatively stable. Some fresh foods have decreased compared to the previous month, such as fresh foods, livestock and poultry meats, which are unchanged compared to the previous month: Pork rump retail price ranges from 90,000-92,000 VND/kg; Grade 1 beef shank is sold for 230,000-240,000 VND/kg; whole chicken is sold for 110,000-115,000 VND/kg.

Some important factors contributing to price stabilization this month are the direction and implementation of departments, branches and localities in implementing the market stabilization program; checking compliance with the law on prices of essential consumer goods, ensuring food safety; controlling price declaration and price posting... before, during and after the 2016 Lunar New Year. In addition, many businesses have also implemented promotional and discount programs... to facilitate people's Tet shopping.

Through market observation, it can be seen that this year, goods serving Tet are abundant, rich, diverse, prices of goods fluctuate little. At the same time in previous years, some goods such as: Fresh food, dried food, beer, wine, candy, purchasing power and selling price often increased, but this year, the market price of goods is relatively stable, there is no shortage of goods causing price fever, affecting people's lives and consumption needs.
