In Dien Chau,Heavy rains in recent days have flooded 3,000 hectares of winter crops, causing estimated damage of more than 10 billion VND.

Of the total 3,000 hectares flooded on both fertile land and winter-spring rice land in Dien Chau, up to 1,600 hectares were deeply submerged in water, with the possibility of crop failure. In addition, 60 hectares of aquaculture were flooded, causing great damage to farmers. 150 hectares of salt fields were severely damaged, with initial estimated damage possibly reaching more than 10 billion VND.
To save winter crops from being submerged in water for a long time, from noon on October 15, Dien Chau mobilized people from communes to drain water from the fields; 27 sluices across the sea dyke were also simultaneously opened to release water.
*In Nghi Loc,Heavy rains in the past two days have washed away more than 30 hectares of shrimp farming in the third crop in the area. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang - Head of the District Agriculture Department said: By 10:30 am on October 16, heavy rains had submerged more than 5,000 hectares of winter crops including corn, beans, vegetables... in water. In particular, the most serious loss was the total loss of 30 hectares of shrimp farming in Nghi Yen.
After the rain stopped, the District People's Committee directed localities to propagate people to stay in the fields to clear the flow, overcoming the flooded crop areas. As for the shrimp farming areas, they are currently submerged in water. Therefore, the agricultural sector has propagated people to wait for the water to recede to treat the ponds and count the damage.

*In Hoang Mai Town,Due to the recent rains, over 3 hectares of freshwater fish ponds were flooded, including 4,000 square meters of Dong Tam Cooperative in Quynh Vinh, which had been experimenting with raising Israeli tilapia for 4 months and was completely lost. The shrimp farming area for the second crop was safe, not flooded or broken. In Quynh Lien commune, about 150 hectares of winter vegetables were slightly affected, the rain caused the leaves of vegetables and onions to be crushed.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tang, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quynh Lien Commune, said that although the impact caused vegetables to have crushed leaves, wilt, and droop, the rain stopped quickly and the sun rose so people could focus on taking care of them and limit damage. Small reservoirs are safe, and no damage has been recorded on traffic works such as roads and bridges.

*At Thanh Chuong, the water level of rivers and streams in Thanh Chuong is still rising rapidly, causing widespread flooding. As of the afternoon of October 16, heavy rain caused landslides in Ru Nguoc, causing about 250 m3 of landslides, affecting traffic safety on National Highway 46, 100 m of canals to collapse, 2 bridges in Thanh Lien and Thanh Lam communes were eroded by water, causing one end of the bridge pier to collapse, and 12 houses had their walls collapsed.

Floods also submerged 576 hectares of winter corn.,2.1 hectares of various vegetables,flooded 284 hectares of aquaculture.
Some traffic routes were still flooded, cutting off many villages in the communes of Bich Hao area including Thanh Lam, Thanh Mai and Thanh Xuan. The total damage caused by heavy rain and whirlwinds is estimated at about 8.2 billion VND.
