(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of March 23 (February 15 of the lunar calendar), the Nine-Chamber Temple Festival officially opened. Attending were representatives of provincial departments, agencies, and branches; leaders of Que Phong, Quy Chau, and Quy Hop districts, along with thousands of people and tourists from all over.

The Nine-Garden Temple Festival is held annually in Chau Kim Commune (Que Phong). This is an opportunity for the Thai ethnic people in the Northwest of Nghe An to remember their roots, to remember the merits of their ancestors who created villages and muongs, and to pray for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather and wind. The Nine-Garden Temple is dedicated to Then Pha (heaven), the daughter of heaven (Nang Xi Da) and Tao Lo Y (the one who founded the nine muongs). This year, the Nine-Garden Temple Festival is held on a regional scale, with the participation of Quy Chau and Quy Hop districts in addition to Que Phong district.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Le Van Giap - Deputy Secretary of the District Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Que Phong district, affirmed: The Nine-Room Temple Festival with its content bearing the imprint and cultural identity of the Thai ethnic group has contributed to educating the tradition of loving the homeland and country; preserving and embellishing the cultural heritage values of the Thai ethnic group in Que Phong in particular and the Thai ethnic group in Nghe An in general.

In the sacred atmosphere, delegates and a large number of people and tourists participated in the Great Sacrifice Ceremony (Then and Dam ceremonies). It is worth mentioning that this year, the ceremony still included a buffalo sacrifice but did not involve buffalo slaughtering as before.

Previously, on March 22, the Organizing Committee held the Opening Ceremony, the Announcement Ceremony (Khay quan ceremony), the opening of the national sports competitions and the singing competition of xuoi and nhuon along with many other mass art activities. The Nine-Room Temple Festival will end on the afternoon of March 24 with the Cha on – Thao quan ceremony (Thanksgiving ceremony).
