The march started at 11 a.m. (local time, about 6 p.m. Hanoi time) in the Park Lane area, passing Picadilly Theatre, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall Palace, towards the Houses of Parliament at 2:30 p.m. (local time).

The marchers waved EU flags and carried placards with slogans such as “Never give up on the EU”, “March for Europe”. They chanted “What do we want?”, or “Hello Europe” to the tune of the Beatles’ hit song “Hello Jude”.

Many of the marchers were young people - some wrapped in EU flags or painted with yellow stars on a blue background.

Organizers said 50,000 people took part in the march, while the Metropolitan Police estimated the number at around 30,000.

Comedian Mark Thomas, who was among the protesters, said British lawmakers should not back leaving the European Union based on exaggerations and distortions about immigration and EU spending by anti-EU politicians.

"We would accept the result of the referendum if the politicians were giving accurate opinions, but they are full of misinformation," Thomas added.

A planned march in Trafalbar Square was postponed due to heavy rain, but tens of thousands of people were determined to return.

Although the final results showed that only 48.1% of British people voted to remain in the EU, 60% of voters in London strongly supported this option. However, the vote result in London did not overwhelm the votes of voters in other areas.

The division within the UK over whether to leave or stay in the EU has led to 4 million people signing a petition for a second referendum, while also reviving the idea of separating Scotland from the UK.

One of the event's organisers, Kieran MacDermott, wrote on Facebook: "We can stop the UK leaving the EU by not accepting the result of the referendum as the final word. Parliament must take a serious look at our democratic rights and call for another vote before accepting Britain's exit."
