Mr. Tran Dinh Hoi in Tay Ho hamlet, Nam Thanh commune (Yen Thanh) said,spring cropThis year, nearly 3 sao of rice was planted. Thanks to proper care and favorable weather, the rice grew well, with large flowers and many grains. However, heavy rain and strong winds on the evening of April 25 caused 1 sao of rice to fall flat on the ground.
"After the rain stops, the family drains all the water from the fields to avoid the rice being soaked. However, if the rice falls over like this, the yield will decrease," Mr. Hoi shared.
Observations on rice fields in the communes of Bac Thanh, Nam Thanh, Khanh Thanh, Cong Thanh... show that many rice fields in the stage of filling grains have collapsed, and many places have had their rice grains broken by whirlwinds.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Duc - Head of the Department of Crop Production and Plant Protection said: According to data reported by some localities, after the heavy rain and strong winds that occurred on the evening of April 25, Dien Chau district had 20 hectares and Yen Thanh district had 295 hectares of spring rice damaged.collapsed, in addition, there are also some districts affected but the area is small.
Mr. Duc recommends that for areas of rice that have fallen over after rain, farmers should splash water to wash the leaves to prop up the rice plants, to avoid the rice flowers from being soaked in water. However, areas that have fallen over will affect productivity./.
