The informal meeting between Russian leader Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping during his visit to Russia lasted an unprecedented amount of time, as reported by the official representative of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov.

Specifically, according to him, the leaders of the two countries walked through the hidden corners of the Kremlin, took a boat ride on the Neva River for several hours, walked in the Winter Palace Museum, visited the Aurora cruiser and talked late into the night during dinner.
“The entire program, especially the unofficial part, is made up of particularly interesting details,” - President Putin's spokesman explained.
He added that for President Putin, such events are of particular importance, as "he presents his beloved hometown of St. Petersburg."
Mr. Peskov also noted that such a format of contact is very special, since decisions on many global issues are made during it.
“In such conversations, during such trips, very important issues are often discussed, related to both bilateral relations and international issues,” he explained.
Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Russia on a state visit from June 5 to 7. He attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum as an honored guest and also met with the Russian President.
