The effectiveness of the model 'Turning scrap into useful things'
(Baonghean.vn) - Scraps are collected and sold to raise money for the fund, used to buy breeding animals, civilized trash cans, support members in difficult circumstances... in Nam Dan Town, Nam Dan District.
Women's UnionNam Dan Townhas taken the initiative to build a Plan to direct units, blocks, and hamlets to implement a fundraising model to help poor members and orphans in difficult circumstances by collecting waste from households. In reality, there are waste items after use such as plastic bags, bottles, plastic shells, paper boxes, etc. that are often thrown away by households, causing unsightliness and environmental pollution while they can be sold for money to do useful things.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang, Head of Quang Trung Block said: "With perseverance and enthusiasm, the Block Executive Committee has directly gone to each house to propagate so that everyone clearly understands the purpose and meaning of this work, thereby actively participating in the model. Thanks to that, from 10 member households participating initially, up to now, basically all households in the block have participated."

Over time, the amount of money collected has gradually increased. The Quang Trung block branch alone has collected a fund of 3.2 million VND to support 4 households to buy breeding animals to give to 4 women's households in especially difficult circumstances.
Unlike the Quang Trung branch,Mai Hac De branchPropaganda for households participating in the model to collect and classify garbage at home. For recyclable garbage such as beer cans, plastic bottles, scrap paper, the homeowner will proactively bring it to the head of the association's house. For households that do not have time to bring it, the Executive Committee will send 1-2 members to the place to collect it. On Saturdays or Sundays every week, the members of the collection team will continue to classify the scrap, pack it into bags and then sell it.
All proceeds from the sale of scrap will be used to buy smart trash cans or plastic baskets to give to households in the block. Seeing the effectiveness of the Association's model, grocery stores, restaurants, and beverage shops have also collected scrap every week to support the Association. Since its implementation, the Quang Trung Association has bought and donated 80 civilized trash cans to place in front of people's houses and 150 plastic baskets to go to the market to limit the release of plastic bags into the environment.
