Coach Bruno blames his players after heavy loss to Paraguay
The Spanish coach said his players lacked concentration, leading to a heavy 1-7 loss to Paraguay in the second leg of the 2016 FIFA Futsal World Cup.
“Today we faced a superior opponent but unfortunately we did not have the necessary spirit and determination,” said coach Bruno Garcia after the match. “In addition, the players did not show the high concentration as expected, leading to the price of consecutive goals conceded in the first half.”
In the match against the team ranked 11th in the FIFA futsal rankings, Vietnam lost quickly 0-5 after the first 20 minutes. In the second half, Bruno's players played better and only conceded two more goals. At the end of the match, they also scored a goal to reduce the gap thanks to Tran Van Vu.
“This is a defeat but we cannot be disappointed. Losing 1-7 will put us at a disadvantage in competing for one of the four best third-place positions. But the journey of the Vietnamese team is not over yet. We have one more match with Italy and will try to get at least one point,” Mr. Bruno emphasized.

Sharing the same opinion with the head coach, captain Nguyen Bao Quan commented: “Paraguay is a very strong team. Today we did not have the highest spirit and concentration. That is why we made individual mistakes, allowing the opponent to take advantage and convert them into goals.”
“The World Cup for the Vietnamese team is not over yet. We need to learn the lessons from this match to be better prepared for the match against Italy in the final round of the group stage to compete for a place in the next round.”
After the first two matches in the groups, Vietnam is ranked second in the group of four best third-placed teams. Above them is Egypt, followed by Australia (3 points), Colombia (2 points), Kazakhstan (0 points) and Iran (0 points). If Vietnam can get a point against Italy, it will definitely enter the round of 16.
